Be aware of unlawful doorstep and cold‑call approaches about disrepair claims
These approaches are unlawful, and designed to catch you off guard, giving you little time to think things through. We want you to be aware of this tactic so you can recognise the signs of a firm that may be acting unlawfully or misleading you.
We also want to make sure you know how to report a repair to us, and what to do if you’re unhappy with the way it’s been handled.
The hidden risks of “no win, no fee” firms
“No win, no fee” offers can sound attractive, but some firms use them to draw people in. There may be hidden fees or charges that aren’t clear at the start. Although solicitors should explain all costs upfront, not all firms do. That’s why it’s really important to read everything carefully before signing any agreement.
Legal action can delay your repairs
Working with us directly is always the quickest way to put things right. We’re here to keep your home safe, well‑maintained and comfortable. If something isn’t right in your home, please let us know as soon as possible so we can fix it. We know we don’t always get things right, and if you feel we haven’t handled your repair properly, we want to hear from you.
It might seem like taking legal action will speed things up, but it often has the opposite effect. When a legal claim is made, it can cause further delays and leave issues unresolved for longer. Taking a case to court can add even more time.
We’re here to help
If you’re unsure about your rights or what to do next, just get in touch. We’ll talk things through with you and help you understand the best way forward.
