First-hand experience: Daniel’s work placement at Abri

When he started his Plumbing Level 2 at Yeovil College in September 2023, he wanted to gain even more plumbing experience and to learn more around working onsite.  

Our Employment Services were delighted to be able to support him and set up a four-week placement in November 2023. And our Planned Repairs team were excited to have him back too.   

Under the supervision of his mentor Dale Vine, one of our Multi Skilled Operatives, he helped fit baths and basins. As this was his second work placement with us and he was further on in his course, he could get stuck in more. So this time, he put in a sink and used the silicone gun. He also identified a leak under a bath and then helped to solve the issue. He’s enjoyed working with Dale and said: 

“I’ve really enjoyed it and learnt a lot. I got to solve some problems and learn more about what it’s like to work onsite. I’d like to come back again to gain even more experience and I’d like to do an apprenticeship with Abri in the future.”
