We're pleased to share we’ve been successfully accepted onto Southampton’s affordable housing framework. Over the next four years, we'll be working with Southampton City Council and other members of the delivery panel to supply the city with good-quality affordable housing.

It's great to have the opportunity to work with Southampton to build affordable homes in the city and a great team effort from everyone involved. Being accepted onto the framework will allow us to bid for sites of different sizes and the council is looking to develop a number of brownfield sites, so we’ll also be helping to regenerate disused areas for the benefit of the community.

Stephen Lodge, our Executive Director Development and Strategic Asset Management said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Southampton City Council as part of their Affordable Housing Framework. With the ongoing cost-of-living challenges and the increase of house prices, the need for affordable housing is greater than ever before. Together we’re ambitious to build affordable and sustainable homes that provide support to both diverse and inclusive communities. The delivery of the homes will be part of Abri’s long-term commitment to provide 10,000 new homes by 2030.”

Councillor Lorna Fielker, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Housing at Southampton City Council said:  “I am delighted that the Affordable Housing Framework has taken another step forward as we have now appointed the successful Housing Providers.

"We want our residents to live in safe and healthy homes which is why it is so important that we deliver good quality, affordable housing, to ensure our residents can live comfortably and independently for longer.

"I look forward to working in partnership with the Affordable Housing Providers to step up the delivery of more affordable housing in Southampton which in turn will improve the health and wellbeing of our residents."

Like Abri, the council are committed to providing warm, safe and affordable homes. The properties developed on the framework will be a mix of social rent and affordable rent, as well as shared ownership properties which will help people get onto the housing ladder and own a share in their home.

The new delivery Framework will support Southampton City Council's housing target to provide at least 8,000 affordable homes by 2040.
