Birchfield Opportunities Hub

On Thursday 3 June, we held a Community Action Day as the first session of our monthly Opportunities Hub at Birchfield Community Centre.

We want you to feel safe in your community so we were also joined by some of our community partners  including Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, the RSPCA and the Yeovil Neighbourhood Police team, who offered free bike security marking!

We had a skip available on the day for the community to get rid of bulk waste and two refuse bags of litter were also collected from the area.

Feel free to pop on by at our next Opportunities Hub which will be on the 15 July 2025. The theme will be Green Spaces and as always, you’ll get a chance to speak to our Employment Support and Community Investments teams.

Exercising in our extra care schemes

Did you know we hold fun weekly exercise activities at Extra Care Schemes across Somerset such as:

• Seated/gentle movement to music
• Stretch and & flex classes
• Interactive co-ordinated activities and games
• Exercise circuits with weights, resistance bands

We've had such positive feedback from attendees:

“My wife and I really enjoy this activity. She doesn’t like to be involved in most activities on the scheme, but this is something we really enjoy together "  said Peter.

Audrey said:“I really enjoy the competitive element of some of the games we have played. It’s great fun”

Having taken on your feedback we’re proud to announce this program will continue for another six months.
